Every day I will write the very beginning of a story, a paragraph or a whole page, without worrying about where it might lead. "Nulla dies sine linea," I hope!

It was a strange sensation, being out of time. Clare knew her body stayed within time, but if she concentrated hard enough, her mind lifted and removed itself from the world. She felt sensations on her skin and she felt herself breathing and she felt her blood flushing in her veins, but she was detached. The world spun around her and time, as a force, held no sway on her mind. Clare always felt on the verge of a Great Thought or Universal Idea when she stepped out of the stream, but, so far, it hadn't come.
